When
Helen Moss bought this beautiful, powerful work of art,
she had no idea of the story behind the drawing. She was
drawn to the image of lyrical beauty and hope in the midst
of grief.
It
is quite large, 48 inches by 60 inches, and she has had
it hanging over the fireplace in her living room since 1985.
It
was not until mid-2003 that she remembered something about
the artist's wife, and contacted him. It was the first work
of art that he created after losing his wife to breast cancer.
Recently,
regarding the website the artist John Sokol said to Helen:
Everything
you've done with 'Dante and Beatrice . . ' is perfect...Please
accept a signed copy of my full collection of poetry,
'In the Summer of Cancer"...with great admiration
and respect for your longstanding support of the arts,
and your concern for bettering the lives of others. You
are doing a wonderful and important thing. Thank you for
making me a part of it!
Visit
John's website
if you are interested in purchasing In
the Summer of Cancer and viewing his other works
of art.
