The Story of Helen Moss

When I first discovered my cancer, I very naively felt that I could be just like Bruce Willis' character in 'Die Hard' and that I would fight this cancer off and be victorious. However, the treatment pulled me down and 'fighting' or that mind set drained my energy.

Discussion on the symbol of the Foundation:

"I feel strongly that it should still be sad but beautiful and hopeful. Happiness and complacency sometimes go together. I believe that breast cancer is still a very serious disease. Because it seems so common, it has diminished the urgency to continue to fight it."

"I think it is too sad."

"I like your logo because of the edginess of it and the sense that the woman is seeking protection from something--a feeling that is congruent with the mission to reduce the toxic effects of breast cancer treatment"

"I don't believe there is a woman anywhere, whether or not having had breast cancer, who would not identify with the intensely intimate yet universally powerful emotion conveyed by the woman in the logo."

"I do not see it as sad at all. I see her at peace. The colors and simplicity speak to me."

"I see the shape of a heart so clearly. For me, it speaks to peace and love amidst breast cancer,."

"This logo will help people give comfort to us."

"As the brush strokes appear, creating your logo, I am reminded of the creative process. The gentle, fluid lines create an art form, your logo...symbolizing hope, comfort and strength through healing. The integrative holistic approach to medicine is also an art form, a work in progress. This art form is given life through your Foundation, also a work in progress, a living vibrant force. I love it."

"[The] website is exquisite. It is very moving, yet inspiring. I love the pink and the strength/sadness of the logo. Everything you do is done which such quality, class, and recognition of the power and centrality of human emotions!"

"The logo is truly exceptional. Simple but complex and articulates the peace and serenity that many woman express when times are troubled. [From a man's point of view] Who hasn't known a woman who takes control at the worst time of your life."
