The Story of Helen Moss

When I first discovered my cancer, I very naively felt that I could be just like Bruce Willis' character in 'Die Hard' and that I would fight this cancer off and be victorious. However, the treatment pulled me down and 'fighting' or that mind set drained my energy.

November 2006 - 70th Birthday Party Fund Raiser at the Union Club PDF Print E-mail
When: November 2006
What: 70th Birthday Party Fund Raiser at the Union Club in honor of Helen Moss– 250 people attended.  Out of town guests included Dr. Barrie Cassileth, Dr. Susan Bauer-Wu, President of the University of Akron,  Ohio Congressman Vernon Sykes and Secetary of       , Barbara Sykes.  Helen was presented a certificate of recognition from Cleveland City Council and the Congress of the United States by Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones.  The money that was raised was eventually used for the $100,000 annual lectureship endowment to Case Western Reserve Medical School..  (Link to Birthday Book)

What: Dr. Judah Folkman, Harvard – America’s “Cancer Warrier”, a medical pioneer who discovered anti-angeogenesis.  Spoke to medical professionals at Case Western Medical School as well as to Case  medical students and then the public at Breezy Bluff

What: First SIO Conference in NYC founded by Barrie Cassileth.  Four hundred medical professionals attended.  The foundation sent four medical professionals.
